Hi Everyone,
I Keep getting asked by Students and potential bands about equipment I use.
When I reply I still use a 30yr old premier Kit with paiste and Sabian Cymbals I get a look of Horror So I have decided to supply some Pictures of my kit as it is Today.
When I was in London the age of my kit seemed like a badge that gained respect, If you can look after your kit that well you will obviously take care of the music.
I have always treated my drums with respect knowing that if I looked after them they would always stand up to most playing situations, Now after 30years I would not do any recording with them as there are not many gigs that would require that certain sound of a well aged Kit.
However for most acoustic gigs and practice sessions they are still as good as when they were first purchased
For the Vintage spotters amongst you, You will notice that it is a red badged Premier 2000 series, The kit consists of a 14inch 2000 Snare Drum, My toms are 13 and 14 inch mounted on to a 22inch Base Drum with a 16inch floor Tom all have solid hoops unlike the rolled hoops of today's kits.
The only new Item that I use is the pearl Eliminator Double Base Drum Peddle. However I still Have the Single 252 base peddle with felt beater that came with the kit which I still use from time to time in small Jazz Gigs.
I use Coated Ambasador Heads for my Toms and Snare (Remo) with a Power Stroke 3 Base drum Head also by (Remo) I keep the Front Base Drum Head Quite Loose as It is still the Original Everplay Premier Head. With the Original Logo on the front.
As to the Cymbals.
I use 14inch Sabian HiHats, A 16inch paiste 602 thin Crash, 17inch paiste Medium Crash, 18inch Sabian Crash, 20inch Sabian China, and 20inch Sabian Heavy Ride and a 6inch Sabian Splash, Between my two mounted Toms.

I hope this will convince my students that if you look after your equipment It will last for a very long time. And to the sceptics that think only new is best "Think Again" !

I would like to say a Huge thank you to my Good friend Mike Cook of www.actionstills.co.uk. photography, for finding time in his busy life to take the photo's at such short notice.
And a Huge thank you to Mark Pearson for the loan of his studio and his time in getting the lighting just right.
And also my good friends Chris and Matt at Scheerers in Leeds for there continued Support.
Many Thanks to you All.
Nigel
