A little thing called ......

Inspiration

I have decided to put this page on my website due to losing a student that suffered from the lack of Inspiration, I have often thought how lucky the younger generation are by having such tools as the internet at there disposal. I know we should never look back and wish WHAT IF or IF ONLY, but I can't forget the long hours of playing records over and over again to try and work out exactly what the drummer was playing on the various records I used to listen to. Now in the age of You Tube we can see instantly what the drummer is playing, but yet I still have students who don't seem to be able to find Inspiration with what they would like to be able to play on the drum set.

I have therefore decided to post one or two videos of the drummer's that still to this day give me the Inspiration to get out of bed and wonder what I am going to learn today.
After forty years of playing I still haven't lost that spark of wondering just how fantastic it is to be given the opportunity to be a student and teacher of such a fantastic instrument.

I guess the first drummer I heard was Louis Bellson playing a classic number called Skin Deep featuring his double base drums.

The second guy I heard was the great Buddy Rich.

I then found the Great Gene Krupa playing his formidable Rimshots.

Moving more up to date there is the fantastic John Bonham from Led Zeppelin

Moving even more upto date the Big three Drum Battle.

This List is by no means  complete but just a little taste of some of the Giants that have been an inspiration to me and will continue to be as new and up and coming drummers will also be.

I have decided to Add this video of Travis Barker of Blink 182 for my students that think learning rudiments is PANTS and that playing to a metronome is pointless...Take Note
